One Eskimo, 'Kandi' -- Video Premiere
- Posted on Sep 10th 2009 11:00AM by Benjy Eisen
As One Eskimo wrap up their run of opening dates for Tori Amos in England this week, the band plans to remain visible -- literally -- by releasing a video for its single, 'Kandi.' The song is about heartbreak, or at the very least, heartache, as a woebegone fella asks his girl about the "other" guy. Appropriately, 'Kandi' features a sample from R&B legend Candi Staton's 'He Called Me Baby.' Unlike the song, the video itself doesn't have much of a plot, but it's filled with plenty of eye candy (yes, that's kind of a pun), care of crafty cinematography and first-rate production. We're fully aware that One Eskimo is no stranger to the whole putting images to music thing -- they've animated an entire album before, turning it into a musical of sorts -- but then again, they've also provided the soundtrack for a car commercial. 'Kandi' falls somewhere in the middle of those two extremes.
