Kanye West Crashes VMAs Stage During Taylor Swift's Speech

Kanye West once again lived up to his unpredictable reputation, crashing the stage at the MTV VMAs after he disagreed with the results. After Taylor Swift won the award for Best Female video for 'You Belong With Me,' she took the stage for her acceptance speech as expected. After humbly thanking MTV for the award, pointing out that she's a country singer, things went awry.

West somehow got on the stage and took the microphone from Swift to say that while he thought Swift was great, fellow nominee Beyonce "had one of the best videos of all time." The camera cut to Knowles, who appeared amused, shocked and embarrassed. As West walked off to boos, Swift stood there speechless, understandably. When she went to speak again, MTV cut her off and moved on to another promo.

This isn't the first time West has acted up at an MTV awards show. In 2006, he rushed the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards and launched into a profanity-laced tantrum over not winning best video for 'Touch the Sky.' In 2007, he announced that he was banning himself from the network after they chose to have Britney Spears opening the VMAs instead of him.

UPDATE: When Beyonce won Video of the Year for 'Single Ladies,' she started her acceptance speech by saying how winning a VMA was one of the biggest thrills of her life, so she wanted Swift to be able to experience it properly. The 19-year-old country star, who performed on a NYC subway after the incident with West, returned to the stage and said "Maybe we can try this again?" She then finished off her acceptance speech.

UPDATE: West already wrote a blog post about the incident in his trademark capital letters. It reads: "I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE'S IN THE BLEACHERS! ........................ I'M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!................. BEYONCE'S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I'M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I'M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I'M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN' THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE ... WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I'M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!! BOOOYAAAWWWW!!!! YOU ARE VERY VERY TALENTED!!! I GAVE MY AWARDS TO OUTKAST WHEN THEY DESERVED IT OVER ME... THAT'S WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! I'M NOT CRAZY YALL, I'M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I'M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!"

Just because he apologized AFTER THE FACT doesn't make what he did any less respectful. Yes, we all have a right to OUR OWN OPINIONS; there is a time & a place to RESPECTFULLY voice them.
In this open forum I would like to express MY opinion: While I listen to neither Swift's music or Kanye's (neither is my cup o' tea) ... what he did was arrogant, & narcissistic. NOT everyone shares his OPINION on music - DESPITE what he may think.

Yes he should apologize to Swift, but that DOES NOT & NEVER WILL change that he took her moment to shine at the 2010 VMA Awards AWAY.

I hope this brings more press to Swift in the weeks to come (not to KW)

The way I feel I agree to what Kanye said, who the fuck likes country ass music anyways. Sheesh every site that I went to has a bunch of people mad about this yet it's mostly white people complaining about it. So yeah he grabbed the mic and said his part and his two cents, but it doesn't mean anything. Kanye didn't have to apologize also. Anyways I heard he was drunk, so you guys stop having a fucking bitch fit.

just because swift is a sweet young girl doesnt mean she has talent. she just sings what u put in front of her, similar to brittney spears, jessica simpson, and mandy moore, or any other cute girl that can sing a bit and look good in front of a camera. what's the differnce between her and j. simpson(besides 60 lbs. and the knowledge that tuna is a fish?)

That's Hollywood for you. It was a win-win for Kanye West as he got to speak what was in his heart and still, will get so much attention with the "apology", Jay Leno probably got off to a rocket start with his brand new TV series as one of the the scheduled guests was Kanye West. (coincidence? I think not). Beyonce will wind up looking like a hero. Then there's Taylor Swift--oh well. Poor thing looked so confused. But she won. Congratulations to all !!

while i am a fan of Kanye's music, I have lost all my respect for him after that he humiliated taylor, and he made himself look like an ass and i'm sorry, but by his age he should know better than to throw a temper tantrum just because he doesn't get his way

This is a petition to blacklist Kanye West and his music from clubs, venues, events, and promoters. Signing this petition would show that you agree that the music of Kanye West is taken off the radio waves and commercials, deny him access to clubs to promote himself or his music, and to deny his performance to venues or as a promotional guest.
My reason for collecting these signatures his to show his sponsers, label and any other source of his income that many potential customers agree that Kanye is not marketable.
