By November's end Irish rockers the Answer will have spent 13 months on the road with AC/DC, touring the globe as openers on the 'Black Ice' tour. Apart from losing some hearing, the Tequila-loving foursome have witnessed some unusual fan encounters and shared a many good laugh with AC/DC's Brian Johnson, who hails from their part of the world. "He's from Northern England and we're from Northern Ireland, so we share a similar sense of humor," frontman Cormac Neeson tells Spinner. "He'll come into our dressing room with a bottle of wine in his hand, sit down and tell us some jokes or some stories about the old AC/DC days." While AC/DC store up their energy these days for the stage -- guitarist Angus Young performs a nightly striptease and rides a forklift above arena crowds during a shower of confetti -- the Answer have been raking up their own rock n roll moments on the road, with one particular night in Germany. "Our drummer, James, comes over to me in the dressing room after the show," Neeson recalls. "He says, 'You might want to make your way back out to the bus. There's a bit of banter going on out there.' I grabbed a couple of beers and went walking back toward the bus." What Neeson saw before him was an orderly line of a dozen or so roadies eagerly waiting to get on his bus.
"As I got closer I realized it was 10 or 15 members of the AC/DC crew," he says. "I was all, 'What are you looking to get on our bus for?' Someone was like, 'Apparently there is a really famous German porn star on your bus.' I get on the bus and there's all these crew guys sitting around worshiping this mass of a big-breasted porn star."
But it wasn't the porn star that amused Neeson. "It just struck me that this AC/DC crew, who's seen so much and probably worked many rock tours before this one, were forming an orderly queue to get on the bus to take their photo with a German porn star."
Just a picture? "At that time in the evening it was all behaved, but then the alcohol starts flowing ... Well, I wouldn't want to incriminate anybody," Neeson jokes.
The Answer are continuing their first foray with America with intimate gigs during off nights from the AC/DC tour. The band's second album, 'Everyday Demons,' was released earlier this year.
