Assembly of Dust, 'All That I Am Now' -- Video Premiere
- Posted on Sep 16th 2009 11:00AM by Benjy Eisen
Much like the song itself and the band that sings it, the video for Assembly of Dust's 'All That I Am Now' is best described as eclectic. In under four minutes, it traverses across much visual territory including live performance video, nature film, eco-cartoon and even vintage black-and-white. It's a one-song variety show, that's for sure. Or, as bandleader Reid Genauer describes it to Spinner, "'All That I Am Now' is the folkadelic version of Shel Silverstein's 'The Giving Tree.'" We're not exactly sure what that means, but we do know that there is a special guest on the song. Even though he doesn't appear with the band in the video, that is indeed Woodstock icon Richie Havens' voice you hear dueting with Genauer. Heady? Why yes, it most certainly is. After a run of solo gigs opening up for Phish's Mike Gordon last week, Genauer will take Assembly of Dust on the road this fall beginning Friday in Troy, N.Y. Or you can watch the video below and let it transport you places without leaving your bedroom. Your call.
