The Brazilian Girls are back, sorta. After taking a short break last year to pursue other matters, the Girls (which, actually, consist of only one female, Sabina Sciubba, and two male companions on drums and keyboard) have lined up four US live gigs in October, including a pair of bi-coastal island dates at New York's Governor's Island on Oct. 2 and the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco on Oct. 17. The trio will then return to the studio where they're working on a new release, slated for next year. During downtime between their last album/tour cycle and work on their upcoming album, Sciubba's been busy with cycles of a more natural order. "I grew a big belly, I gave birth to a big baby boy, I produced about 50 gallons of milk and fed them to the same," Sciubba tells Spinner. "Now he's a giant."
As for the new material, Sciubba says that she wrote a batch of songs on guitar and that they may debut some on the upcoming tour. "We haven't rehearsed yet," she says. "Given that we haven't toured the last record much, we'll probably play something off our three records and some new stuff."
And given that it's the Brazilian Girls we're talking about, the songs will probably be accompanied by spectacle. Don't expect the G-Rated version just because Sciubba's now a mom.

Could you illuminate me as to why they've canceled their east coast shows in New York City and Boston?
