Well, it was only a matter of time. The first of what is believed to be many posthumous Michael Jackson releases is set to debut Oct. 12. The song, 'This Is It,' is the title-track to the upcoming feature film documenting Jackson's rehearsals for his 50-date London residency. Two versions of the new track, one featuring Jackson's brothers on backing vocals, will appear on the two-disc soundtrack to the film, released internationally Oct. 26 and in the US on Oct. 27, a day before the film hits theaters. While the first disc of the soundtrack features Jackson's hits from the film, disc two surprises with unreleased versions of his classics. Adding to the chunk of unreleased material on the double-disc is Jackson's new spoken word poem 'Planet Earth.'
Jackson's manager Frank DiLeo told Rolling Stone last August that there at least 100 unreleased songs by the singer, many dating back to his 'Bad' and 'Thriller' albums and some from recent years featuring Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo. Jackson's sister LaToya is rumored to have stolen a hard drive worth of new material. If true, this could mean more posthumous hits from the late legend.
