Item: Hotel California Room Key FobPrice: £7.99
Seller's Description: "This is a very rare item, it's a hotel room key fob for the Hotel California, which of course is the name of the classic Eagles album and song. To this day, Don Henley has refused to say exactly where the real Hotel California is situated, but he has stated that it ISN'T in Mexico, which has put paid to a Mexican hotel's attempt to cash in! The album cover shows the Beverley Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard, which is why we've used that as the address on our key fob, we think that's as close as anyone will ever get to finding out the real location. The room number on the fob is 76, which is very appropriate as 1976 was the year the album was released. The key fob also gives some very useful check out information
"This is an exclusive item which you won't find anywhere else!
"The key fob is 4" x 1.5" (10 x 4 cm), made of perspex and is brand new (still in bag). Even though it looks just like an authentic hotel room key it is still small enough to fit in your pocket without making you walk with a limp! It will be a great piece of memorabilia for an Eagles fan. Imagine the reaction (& respect) you'll get when you place this key fob on the bar counter!"
Our Take: You didn't think you could buy the key to the real Hotel California for a few bucks, did you? While this item won't give you the feeling of being in a famous rock 'n' roll band in the decadent Los Angeles of the '70s, it's certainly a conversation piece. And hey, at least you can check out anytime you like and actually be able to leave.
