Scarlett Johansson Dreams of Starring in Movie Musical

Scarlett Johansson and Pete YornThough she's mainly stuck to drama and comedy films, Scarlett Johansson had a slightly different career path envisioned as a youngster. "When I was a kid, I started acting because I wanted to be in movie musicals and on Broadway," Johansson told Spinner at a recent Interface taping in Los Angeles. "I took a lot of vocal lessons and I thought I was going to be Judy Garland or something."

With two albums under her belt -- 'Anywhere I Lay My Head,' her collection of Tom Waits covers, and 'Break Up,' her recently-released duet set with Pete Yorn -- Johansson is ready to add a little visual to that audio. "It's always been my dream to do a movie musical," said Johansson, who appears next at Soviet agent Natasha Romanoff in 'Iron Man 2.' "I always wanted to sing on camera."

The good news for Johansson is that after the success of films like 'Chicago' and 'Dreamgirls,' movie musicals are back in a big way. 'I'm really excited that it's sort of been revived," she says. "It's nice that I maybe have a chance to do it."
