Although they are herbivores by nature, real fruit bats would only crush grapes to get at the juice. These Fruit Bats from Portland, Ore., however, went for the more refined version in the cellars of Gundlach-Bunschu winery in California's Sonoma county, a region known more for wine than for bats. As the band began to drink, their cavernous inclinations began to show. "We should record in here," frontman Eric Johnson told his fellow Bats. And so, well into their wine tasting, the band performed acoustic, makeshift takes of 'The Hobo Girl' and 'Flamingo,' both from their latest release, 'The Ruminant Band'. Captured on this video, the natural acoustics from the cellar sound great here, even if you're sober.

Thanks so much to the Fruit Bats and Caleb for making this fantastic video in our cave! Our crew sings in here often, but it never sounds this good! Thanks also for a fantastic show at this year's Indie Rock series at the winery. Hope to have you back again soon.
