Shania Twain Receives Olympic-Sized Invitation

Shania Twain has been invited to play a part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. The country superstar will carry the Olympic Flame through her hometown of Timmins, Ontario, Canada.

"It is certain to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life," Shania writes in a statement announcing the honor. "I am proud to have been presented this unique opportunity and privilege and look forward to sharing the pride with my hometown and fellow Canadians, as we are all proud of our country's chance to host the upcoming winter games. I am grateful for this special gift of participation in carrying the flame that represents such an incredible spirit of sportsmanship and excellence and wish all the athletes of the 2010 Winter Olympics courage, strength and triumph during the Games."

Fans are now wondering whether Shania will also perform in the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

I wish Shania Twain participate at celebration opening 2010 Winter Olympics, but don't complain there is no snow in Vancouver, her song/performance get high in degree very fast !

What a great idea to have a hometown celebrity carry the torch in the area they are from. I can think of many Canadian celebrities who should be asked and I bet they would be honored. The Canadian Olypic Association should take the lead and research this.
