Kings of Leon's Friday night closing set at Austin City Limits read like a best-of collection from their decade-long repertoire. But, for all of the great tunes, it was Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder that sent the crowd into a frenzy.Vedder, who will close out the fest Sunday with his band, came out for the closer 'Slow Nights, So Long' shaking a tambourine in each hand, and adding some vocals. Vedder hurled the tambourines into the audience, leaving two lucky folks even happier.
Meanwhile, KOL opened things up an hour-and-a-half earlier by walking onto the stage to anthemic choir chants, before launching into 'Only By the Night' track 'Crawl.' Frontman Caleb Followill expressed his love for Austin mentioning that some of their favorite artists come from the area, and calling it "one of the greatest cities in the world." "Let's get this thing started right,' Followill promised four songs in. They certainly delivered.
