Them Crooked Vultures Originated at Medieval Times

While fans of Them Crooked Vultures are finally getting a taste of the supergroup -- they're currently in the midst of a Midwest to East Coast tour -- information regarding their debut album has been relatively scant, aside from a few sound clips posted to the band's YouTube page. Yet over the weekend at Austin City Limits, lead singer and guitarist Josh Homme sat down for a rare interview with Antiquiet.com in which he revealed that the album will be self-titled and released on Interscope probably before the year's end. Oddly enough, the band made a pact to not know when the actual release date was going to be. But what's more interesting is that Homme reveals that Dave Grohl was the ringleader for this project and was confident that this could work, even though John Paul Jones and Homme had never met. Grohl did what any guy setting up a meeting between two other dudes would do -- he introduced them to each other at the great Medieval Times.
"I hadn't played guitar for five months and I was gonna maybe take a break for a second, for my first time in a long time," Homme told Antiquiet. "But then [Dave] has his birthday party at Medieval Times, and of course he sat us right next to each other. That was the blind date. But he sat in the next row behind us, like looking over. But you know, I think it's fairly common to meet someone from Zeppelin at Medieval Times."
If you think about it hard enough, it really does make sense.
