Scott Weiland, 'Tangle With Your Mind' -- Video Premiere

Scott WeilandScott Weiland isn't the type of artist that you'd necessarily call "cute" but, sure enough, his new video for the track 'Tangle With Your Mind' is, well, cute. For his part, Weiland says that "arts and crafts-y" was actually the vibe he was going for.

"I had watched this movie called 'The Science of Sleep' about a year ago and I fell in love with the film," Weiland tells Spinner. "I thought it was such a cool and interesting approach and I wanted to use that in a video sometime."

Simultaneously, Weiland had the idea that he wanted to reach out to film students and see if he could give someone a big break. Like, a really big break. So when relative newcomer Dennis Roberts came up with a treatment that was surprisingly close to what Weiland had already envisioned, he got the go ahead. "I was really impressed," says Weiland. "I've worked with huge video directors and [Roberts] and his crew were just as professional as anyone I've ever worked with." Perhaps that's because it wasn't actually Roberts' first rodeo - he's directed videos for artists such as Beck and Simian before this.

Nonetheless, Weiland says that 'Tangle with Your Mind' was a "really fun video to make." We're happy to report that it's also a fun one to watch.

Beautiful song, romantic video. Scott, this is amazing. I love your voice in this song. The Ring Pop got me teary eyed. I can't wait to hear the other songs on the album. You have always been so talented, I've been a fan since my early teens, but this song is so unique, so different. It really shows your vocals. I love it, love it. love it. Congrats, this one is going to be a huge hit for you. Lots of love.

Ok then... Nice little night-night song for the kiddies, lmao. But really... original? Please! Have you people NO knowledge of music history? This is such a rip-off of BOB DYLAN. Sounds a whole lot like "How does it Feel". It has the same CRAMMED-IN-LYRICS writing style, TEMPO, MELODY, AND off-key nasaly singing. In his photo (above) he even has the same RATTY Dylan hair style! Well at least he cut it all neat and perty for the video! haha.

Never heard of Bob Dylan? Well how about "Drops of Jupiter", by Train? A LOT of similarities to that one too. EXCEPT that "Jupiter", and "How Does it Feel" at least have some meaningful, deep lyrics. While Scotty's little ditty is just a sappy soapy knock-off, and a VERY distant 3rd in the writing category!

I've had enough of these wannabe popsie-rocksie-folksie, erm... "singers", who just can't SING (including Dylan)! They would get laughed off on the gag reel of American Idol! (except the one's they want to promote, like Brookie White, And that dreadlock kid). Simon would say to Scotty, "What was THAT"? Kara would stand up and sing it 10 times better. And Randy... (*chuckle chuckle*, while hiding face behind papers), "Yo dawg! Singing's just not your thing dude".

    Hey Bouche Dag,
What makes you such an expert? Ummm, yeah. What is this Bob Dylan song that you speak of "How does it feel"? Are you trying to refer to "Like a rolling stone". Before you try educate others, learn a little bit of rock history. Yes, there is finite number of chords and progressions. However, the similarities between these two songs escapes my ears. I would recommend that you back to your room in your mom's basement and study up a bit. I will see you at the drive through window in the morning. I will be taking my coffee black, no cream, sugar.

    hey Bill

have you never heard of Stone Temple Pilots (STP) or Velvet Revolver? Scott Weiland is the furthest thing from a wannabe singer there is. Hes got a great voice and hey heres a newsflash, every musician/singer is inspired from other musicians before them, so its natural to hear some of their influence. vanilla ice sampled from bowie, papa roach sampled from green day, the list goes on and on...get over it, if you dont like it, then dont listen!

I love it but the vocals need to be louder because the music takes over. It would be nice to hear more of his voice, its lost behind the music. Still a good song but bring vocals out more! Thanks

perfect example of how rockers sell out .stone temple pilots were the alternitive and metal of its time .and hey sourgirl was a gigantic hit . but after a marrage and couple of kids , just shows how the weakness sets in ,that tangle with your mind song is weak , weiland is not bob dylan ,iam iam iam iam disapointed ,
