New Michael Jackson Song Unveiled: 'This Is It'

Michael JacksonIn anticipation of the upcoming motion picture, 'Michael Jackson's This Is It!,' Michael Jackson's official website released his first posthumous new song 'This Is It' at midnight ET on Sunday. Currently available only as a stream, Jackson's vocals sound as strong as ever and his characteristically emotional delivery is supported by sweeping, uplifting instrumentation and, yes, finger-snaps. Notably, the track also features backing vocals by his brothers, the Jacksons. All told, 'This Is It' sounds triumphant and is somewhat of a return to the King of Pop's roots in R&B and gospel.

The song was released ahead of the film, which will hit movie theaters for a limited two-week engagement beginning on October 28. A double-disc soundtrack will drop in North America on October 27, featuring two versions of 'This Is It' -- the original and an orchestral version -- alongside some of the greatest hits of all time. Indeed, this new track feels right at home next to classics like 'Man in the Mirror' from the 1987 album 'Bad,' and it is easily the most startling evidence yet that Michael Jackson still had more hits in him and more music to make. Tragically, as the title itself states ... this is it.

brilliant! Micheal Jackson was so beautiful and he was, and still is, such an amazing person and artist. it's such a shame that he didn't tour and make more music. rip Micheal Jackson. ich liebe dich.

I'm so happy I have three tickets for myself and two of my kids to see the movie. I am expecting a very emotional and enthusiastic crowd - like being at the concert. Can't wait to hear his new songs and the older ones too. He never stopped being a great singer and performer.
