As Meat Loaf's daughter and the wife of Anthrax shredder Scott Ian, Pearl Aday has no doubt gotten some advice in her life about rock 'n' roll. But the wisdom has come from a genre-spanning list of all-star artists, not just from her father or her husband. "Diana Ross always taught me 'Believe in yourself," Aday tells Spinner. "Also, 'Never go to sleep with your make-up on.' 'Uncle' Roger Daltrey told me to always remember that 'You are the Pepsi, not the can.' And 'Uncle' Ted Nugent told me, 'Keep your clothes on!' Then he gave me a pair of bullets to use as ear plugs."
The advice has certainly paid off: by the time she was 18, Aday was singing back-up on world tours with her dad then later with Motley Crue. In January, Aday will release her solo debut, 'Little Immaculate White Fox,' which features her husband on guitar. "He's a metal god for sure, but he's built on rock 'n' roll," she says. "It's a killer feeling to have him up there with me. He says he has a blast playing my music because, for him, it's a rad departure from metal."
Other guests on the album include Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell and her Uncle Teddy (as in, the Nuge). While the album is still a few months from delivery, Aday recently warmed up a few live shows with the Doors in and around LA. What they say about the company you keep really must be true.
