Pavement Announce New Zealand and Australia Dates

The confirmed Pavement dates keep coming. Just days after it was announced the band were curating one of the ATP events next May, comes news the band will be racking up the airmiles on a jaunt to New Zealand and Australia.

The band will now play Auckland Town Hall, Sydney Enmore Theatre, Victoria Golden Plains Festival, Adelaide Thebarton Theatre, Perth Metro City, Brisbane Tivoli and Melbourne Palace Theatre.

It's no surprise the band are traipsing out to New Zealand. From the earliest days, Pavement made no secret of their debt to Kiwi indie bands such as the Clean and the Verlaines. The band recorded a cover of the Clean's 'Oddity' for the 1997 tribute album 'God Save the Clean,' while a newly-reformed Verlaines supported Pavement's Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks in Auckland last month.

As previously reported in Spinner, the band's drummer Bob Nastanovich has given an interview with British site the Quietus in which he seemed to confirm the band's reunion was a one-off and that they would not be playing or recording any new material.

Apart from their ATP curating and headlining, the band have so far announced four dates in New York next September.
