Pete Doherty Hospitalized for Exhaustion
- Posted on Oct 14th 2009 10:00AM by John D. Luerssen
Pete Doherty was rushed to the hospital Monday night forcing the cancellation of three gigs in Ireland this week. The often-troubled Babyshambles frontman was having trouble breathing and is currently being treated for fatigue."Last night [Oct. 12] Peter Doherty was admitted to Swindon Hospital with exhaustion and breathing difficulties," a representative for Doherty announced Tuesday. "He is currently under observation by doctors."
Doherty has had a very active year, releasing his first solo album 'Grace/Wastelands' and performing constantly. Doherty -- who is currently at work on a new Babyshambles disc -- also reunited for one night with his former band the Libertines in April, which has sparked plans for a new album, now expected in 2011.
While there's no indication Doherty's hospitalization is due to drugs, the musician has had a history of abuse, visits to rehab and has even served jail time for his addiction woes. In June, Doherty was arrested after being caught driving drunk after a show, which also happened in the wake of an arrest for in-flight drug use. He is expected to stand trial on criminal charges in December.

If everyone who talks shit about him because of him using drugs actully bother to listen to the lyrics of his songs, or even just the rifts of them, they'd see that he's a really good poet&musician. And watch interviews with him, he's a nice guy. Sure he may be fucked on drugs sometimes but he has morals, and its not like he's forcing other people to take drugs!!!
As for you with the first few comments did you know that about 10 million people in the UK smoke.... GET OVER IT!!!
I really hope Pete is doing ok, maybe this wee spell in hospital will be good for him.
Hopefully he'll be back on his feet in no time
you're all saying all these things about drugs, but most celebrities do drugs. stop digging at him for it just because it's different from how you choose to live your life. people need to stop being so fucking selfish just thinking of how they live their lives, maybe consider problems everyone else has and shouldn't just class someone as a waste just because they do drugs. he gets hardly any credit for what a star he actually is. he lifts a lot of peoples spirits with his music and poetry. he actually talks sense and has morals. stop critizing him and show some support! pray and hope for him!

Exhaustion my a$$. Well, maybe you CAN get exhausted, taking all those drugs and drinking so much. Whatever. No one cares. The faster this guy wastes himself, the better.
October 14 2009 at 6:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOh, please ... there's so many other rockers busier than him. But since they're not as tragic as he is, the press can't be bothered.
October 14 2009 at 5:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBreathing difficulties...mmmmm.....maybe he should put out that stupid cancer stick he's sucking on.
October 14 2009 at 3:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYep. That's the first thing that I thought. Plus, if he keeps smoking those things, he's not going to look so young.
