The video for the first single from Brandi Carlile's newest release, 'Give Up the Ghost,' is filled with revelry and images of the place where the real wild things are -- the land of dreams. It's no surprise then that the song itself is called 'Dreams,' and you can probably guess what the song is about. The video was filmed on location in a place actually known for being filled with revelers and real-life wild things actually roam -- New Orleans. "We went to this place called Mardi Gras World," Carlile tells Spinner. "It's where they keep their old retired Mardi Gras floats and mascots. And the concept of the video -- the song being called 'Dreams' and being in the Mardi Gras warehouse -- was kind of this ethereal dreamworld vibe where I was supposed to be asleep and I'm seeing all these characters and all these things fading in and out of view."
With the help of director Roman White, this song really kind of makes you want to go to sleep; not to get rest so much as to chase the video's unspoken promise that sweet dreams are made of these.
