Depeche Mode Frontman Confuses Peru With Chile at Gig

A humble message to Depeche Mode's tour manager -- perhaps frontman Dave Gahan needs a little geography refresher whilst out on the road?Gahan managed to put his foot in it in front of 30,000 Peruvian fans during the band's show in the country's capital Lima on Tuesday night when he yelled out "Thank you very much, Chile!"
It's a little more serious than getting the name of a mid-Western city wrong; Peru and Chile went to war with each other in the 19th Century, and as recently as 2006 a dispute over maritime borders threatened to spill over into military action.
It's not the first time it's happened to the poor old Peruvians -- in 2003, Alanis Morissette mistook Peru for Brazil while playing Lima.
The Mode play Chile, in Santiago's Club Hipico on Thursday night. Let's hope Gahan has had some quality time with an atlas in the meantime...

I have seen Depeche Mode perform live MANY times over the years and have watched NUMEROUS live clips and listened to COUNTLESS live recordings and NEVER does Dave Gahan say, "Thank you very much, " He says, "Thank you very much, GOODNIGHT" He does however, say "Good evening, " at the beginning of the show.
You should have actually WATCHED & LISTENED to the YouTube clip before posting this erroneous article.
