The Museum of Modern Art became the nexus for skate punk, lo-fi rock and independent film enthusiasts at Thursday's PopRally event. The showcase, dubbed 'An Evening of Skate Videos,' celebrated influential clips from the '80s to the present day and featured a panel of venerable skateboarders and filmmakers. The event even included an appearance by director Spike Jonze, who currently is the subject of an exhibition at the New York gallery, as well as a performance by No Age.

The ragged music duo, otherwise known as Dean Spunt and Randy Randall, played in the museum lobby under bright orange lights next to a prop skeleton. "Wasn't it f---ing awesome?" drummer/vocalist Spunt asked the crowd of the screening, before launching into tracks from their 2008 disc 'Nouns.' The Los Angeles act's steady stream of shouting, feedback and hyperactive beats easily had the audience bouncing alongside priceless works of art. Spotted among the stylish Manhattan crowd was actress Catherine Keener, who's worked with Jonze in 'Being John Malkovich' and 'Where the Wild Things Are.'

No Age will continue to hit New York's finest art institutions with a Friday night gig at the New Museum, their third performance in the city in as many days. Meanwhile, the MoMA will continue to screen films Jonze has worked on it various roles -- including 'Jackass: The Movie,' 'Adaptation,' and 'Heavy Metal in Baghdad' -- as part of its 'Spike Jonze: The First 80 Years' retrospective.
