Vincent Moon is experimenting with video again -- not that he ever stopped. This time, the avant-garde director is launching a new series called 'Temporary Areas' that aims to document creativity -- presumably, musical -- from locations around the world. The first installment, 'Temporary Copenhagen,' is a 30-minute improvisational journey into the heart of Copenhagen's musical underbelly.
Moon tells Spinner that the film is a "30-minute piece we created on the spot. Nine local bands, only three I knew, two hours to organize something before the audience arrives, and the objective to create a unique sound piece, a collaborative concert which would be moving in an intimate space."
Sounds hectic even on paper. "Only one take, no cuts, loads of tension," Moon says. "Maybe an interesting talk between cinema and music where each one feeds the other one." The result, seen here, is not just a document but also a meditation on the creative heartbeat of a city -- you can bet that it beats loud.
