Gibson Guitars: An Overview

When it comes to rock 'n' roll instruments, Gibson guitars are an American standard. The Nashville-based company manufactures acoustic and electric axes that are coveted by rock legends as well as guitar geeks who can actually afford one. Perhaps most iconic of all the Gibson Guitars is the Les Paul, first released in 1952, which has been famously played by Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Slash (to name a few). Other Gibson guitars, including the SG, the Flying V and the double-neck EDS-1275 are among the most recognizable instruments in music. Flip through our gallery of some famous Gibson guitars below.

I own a Gibson SG. It was put together in 2003. I bought it second hand from 30th st. Guitars here in Manhattan from Mat the Luthier. The man's second to none in the art of guitarness.
I've been playing it the last few years with no effects just straight through a Crate battery amp. It sounds great just plugged in. It sounds like rock the minute I strum it. I can get a wide variety of sounds from its 2 pick up and volume and tone control for each set up. Right now I'm playing it through 2 amps at once. It's plugged into my Crate and a Peavey something. It gives me all sorts of controls to mess with. I've just started exploring this the other day.
I'm a 60 year old singer songwriter. Still playing and looking for a label. I need an agent or a manager. I write good songs, but I'm not a multi tasker.

Great article, love those Gibson guitars. I had the pleasure of holding for a few minutes the legendary rosewood SG George Harrison gave to Pete Ham, it was a 1964 model. For an account of how this happened, check out my blog at www.fortunesicons.com/blog and search 1977 and/or 1980.
