Antony Hegarty has signed on as a new singing pitch man for Italian coffee brand Lavazza. Without his band, Antony and the Johnsons, the vocalist has delivered an entire aria in Italian on behalf of the coffee maker.Taking on 'Nessun Dorma,' the aria from Giacomo Puccini's notorious opera 'Turandot,' Antony is backed by the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra. "As a tribute to the Lavazza brand values, Antony decided to record the track in Italian," the coffee company's website proudly proclaims.
Hegarty's rendition of the 83-year old aria can be heard here. Sung in Antony 's own unmistakable, trembling tone, 'Nessun Dorma' is the latest in a series of pairings between the singer and assorted European symphonies. This past summer, Antony performed with the Opera Orchestra of Lyon, the Metropole Orchestra, the Montreux Jazz Festival Orchestra as well as the aforementioned Roma Sinfonietta.
