Florence Welch Can't Work an iPod

Florence Welch's stage persona borrows heavily from Renaissance art and fantastical themes. Anyone who's witnessed her climb the rigging, crawl under stages or jump into pools during Florence and the Machine's live sets would agree she's one to inhabit her own world.

It would appear Welch has some problems adjusting with the modern world when she gets offstage as well. In an interview with the Quietus, she revealed she only listens to music on a CD Walkman.

When asked if she found it annoying to have to drag so many CDs around, she said: "But I can't f---ing work iPods, any kind of technology past the '90s seems to break on me."

It's not an admission that goes down well with the Quietus. "Welch is a willing victim of the post-MySpace obsession with fetishizing technical ineptitude, thus somehow proving that your unbridled creativity knows no quantifiable or rational bounds," the interviewer thunders.

Florence and the Machine play London's Roundhouse on Thursday as part of the BBC's Electric Proms before heading to the US and Canada for a string of shows.
