Ex-Pulp lead singer and solo star Jarvis Cocker has been unveiled by BBC 6 Music as the latest addition to their roll call of presenters.Cocker, who has previously guest-presented on the station and also its sister station BBC Radio 2, will take over the Sunday afternoon slot, previously home to 'The Office' writer/comedian Stephen Merchant, from 3:30-5:30pm. His first show will air on Jan. 10 next year.
The iconic star said of his new appointment, "I'm very much looking forward to it. I think Sunday afternoons have got a special atmosphere, and I will be doing something that I think is appropriate to that -- or maybe inappropriate, I don't know!"
He added, "It is my intention to fill these hours with as much dodgy opinion, crackpot theories, hare-brained schemes and beautiful, beautiful music as is humanly possible. I can't wait to get going."
He also quipped, "I am going to put the boringness back into Sunday. That's my mission."
Jarvis joins Catatonia's Cerys Matthews, Elbow singer Guy Garvey, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, Fun Lovin' Criminal Huey Morgan and Tom Robinson at the station.
