Tickets for a number of shows from Phish's upcoming fall tour went on sale this morning. At least, they went on sale for one second, anyway. Many fans who tried to purchase tickets online at Ticketmaster right at the 10AM on-sale time found that tickets for every show were already sold out by the time they could hit "send." Meanwhile, fans stood in line at old-fashioned physical ticket outlets across the country to attempt to buy tickets for the shows, all of which will be held in the Northeast. Most of the ones that went on sale today are for concerts that will take place in New York state in November and December, including three nights at Madison Square Garden. Tickets for the remainder of Phish's short fall tour will go on sale tomorrow morning, however briefly before those, too, sell out. Tomorrow's sale includes two-night stands at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. So far, since Phish's return earlier this year following a four year break-up, virtually every show has been an instant sell-out.
However tickets are still available for Festival 8, the three-day Phish festival to be held in Indio, Calif. next weekend, Oct. 30 through Nov. 1, at the same venue that hosts Coachella and Stagecoach. The event will feature eight full sets of Phish, including an acoustic set at high noon on Sunday and Phish's traditional Halloween set on Saturday, during which the band will don a "musical costume" when they cover another band's album in its entirely. Unlike past years, Phish has revealed a list of 99 candidates via a flash installation on their website -- albums are being killed off, one by one, and Phish will perform the "last record left alive." Potential winners include selections by the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Prince and MGMT.

Their show/festival out in Indio, CA (Festival 8) was PHENOMENAL- it's no surprise the tickets have been selling out!
I wrote and added photos to a blog about Phish Festival 8 and the craziness that ensued.
