Nine Inch Nails may be finished but Trent Reznor is hardly done with making music. Reznor's first release since taking NIN out of commission is the soundtrack to a promo clip for J.J. Abrams' paranormal Fox drama 'Fringe.'According to Entertainment Weekly, Reznor reworked the 'Year Zero' track 'Zero Sum' for the trailer of the show after the network's marketing department used the original version of the song in a promo. Trent decided to get involved after Abrams -- who is a friend of the electronic giant's -- asked him to collaborate.
The revised take, which was done during his band's recent farewell tour, finds Reznor reciting lines that Leonard Nimoy's character has uttered on the show. According to EW, the track's sound waves digitally reflect one of the shows "glyphs," an idea proposed by Reznor.
If that's not enough, Trent supposedly refused payment for his efforts, according to 'Fringe' executive producer Jeff Pinkner. Pinkner also insists that Reznor has an open invitation to appear on the show and says that if the rocker takes them up on it, his cameo would go something like this: "His head would probably end up exploding. There'd be some uncomfortable biology in there one way or another." Awesome.
