David Bowie 'Used Witchcraft to Beat Cocaine Paranoia'
- Posted on Oct 26th 2009 5:53AM by Spinner
David Bowie used witchcraft to overcome his cocaine-fuelled paranoia, a new biography about the star claims. The book, simply called 'Bowie,' came about after writer Mark Spitz spent years talking to the enigmatic star and those close to him, reported Contactmusic. Spitz wanted the project to put to rest many of the myths and legends surrounding Bowie.
Of the witchcraft, Spitz writes, "While planning the follow up to 'Young Americans,' Bowie would sit in the house with a pile of high-quality cocaine atop the glass coffee table, a sketch pad and a stack of books. 'Psychic Self Defence' was his favourite. Its author describes the book as a 'safeguard for protecting yourself against paranormal malevolence.'"
The author continues, "Using this and more arcane books on witchcraft, white magic and its malevolent counterpart, black magic, as rough guides to his own rapidly fragmenting psyche, Bowie began drawing protective pentagrams on every surface."
According to the book, Bowie told Spitz, "I'd stay up for weeks. Even people like Keith Richards were floored by it. And there were pieces of me all over the floor. I paid with the worst manic depression of my life. My psyche went through the roof, it just fractured into pieces. I was hallucinating 24 hours a day."
The author adds, "Increasingly Bowie was convinced there were witches after his semen. They were intent on using it to make a child to sacrifice to the devil, essentially the plot to Roman Polanski's 1968 supernatural classic 'Rosemary's Baby.'"
According to the book, a friend introduced Bowie to a New York "white" witch called Walli Elmlark. Spitz describes how she turned the star's pool into a supernatural Jacuzzi, "Elmlark quickly and successfully exorcised the pool. Angie [Bowie], who was living there at the time, noted that it started to bubble and smoke, and that it only rained outside David's window while the rest of the Los Angeles sky was clear. Elmlark wrote a series of spells and incantations out for Bowie as he continued to wrestle with the forces of darkness."
Happy Halloween.

May 18 2010 at 10:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replywalli was my gf for 2 yrs, & i was there (on east 65th st) the night angie called (i answered the phone). walli NEVER went to cali, she simply got on the phone & talked to david to try & calm him down. she basically told him to light white candles, circle the house/apt with salt, & NOT the fantastical account given above. she was a wiccan in the trad'l, spiritual sense, of which diana & nature was the figurehead, so to speak. she thought the hocus pocus that most assume of witchcraft to be silliness, even funny. & magic, in lieu of a better word, was given definition by what one used it for, or did with it. & by nature, everything has a light/dark, positive/negative aspect to it. it was pretty simple, & had mainly to do with healing. btw, i was awake at like 5-6 the next morn when i heard it announced on the radio that bowie had been found dead, CLEAR across the country in la. if you're going to weigh in on a discussion, have at the very LEAST some knowledge of the facts...

Old Irish Gaelige saying meaning,"There are 2 versions of 2 sides to every story and at least 12 versions of every song." "Bail o Carraig ort Mr. Bowie!" (the eternal blessing of God's Rock n' Roll on ya Mr. Bowie!)
Carraig go Brach! (Rock on Forever!)

October 26 2009 at 8:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMr. Bowie's guardian angel or ancestral spirits were probably warning him about his cocaine addiction. Some people are very psychically sensitive and his cocaine addiction had probably magnified his in a very negative sense. Who knows, he may have had some ancestors who actually persecuted witches or practiced witchcraft since he instinctively turned to it to fight his addiction. Drugs are nothing to play with and I thank GOD that I have never been inclined to experiment with them. Drug abuse has had a devastating impact on too many families and communities. Surviving his ordeal says a great deal about Mr. Bowie's character.
October 26 2009 at 7:40 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBowie also used Warhol stars, Wayne County and Cherry Vanilla, to finesse his Ziggy glam/glitter image;
"Rebel Rebel" was clearly inspired by Wayne County's "Queenage Baby" and County's tenure as an artist at Bowie's MainMan company...
Bowie refuses to credit County and Vanilla, but the hipsters that were around at the time remember everything very well
This is SO not real witchcraft. There is no "malevolent counterpart, black magic." Ask any practicing Wiccan. The Craft is all about the power of Nature, the seasons, the Wheel of the Year. Nature can be destructive when that part of Her cycle comes around, but there's nothing dark or evil about it. All this negative hype is just leftover Inquisition propaganda that has been used for centuries to rationalize the persecution of Pagans.
October 26 2009 at 7:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt is sad and amusing that wiccans choose to worship the created rather than the Creator. All witchcraft, whether white or black, is an abomination to God and all will have to stand before him in judgment one day. I am not saying anything you haven't heard before, and not saying this to judge or condemn you. Just wanting you to be free from the deception that has you enslaved and to tell you there is a hope for you whenever you reach for the Christ who defeated the one you serve now.

"It is sad and amusing that wiccans choose to worship the created rather than the Creator."
I most certainly agree with this comment, as the failure to recognize that only the Creator should be worshiped is the utter flaw that undermines any "good" that may come from engaging in Wiccan/Pagan practices.
However, Mrs. G, you also state that you wish for this individual to "be free from the deception that has you enslaved and to tell you there is a hope for you whenever you reach for the Christ who defeated the one you serve now," when, you yourself are ensnared in the falsehood that you should be worshipping Yahshua, who you name âJesusâ, rather than Yahweh, or âGodâ, Himself. âGodâ asked for you to âlove Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mightâ â Deuteronomy 6:4-5 â and he demanded that you not worship any idols or other gods. When the Messiah came, he came to enforce the Law that was already established; he did not come for others to make a new religion after Him, where all thanks and praise goes to Him. The true disciples know that you shall only worship The Father in Heaven. I would advise you to take the same course of action you recommended to Fran about worshipping the Creator, and not the created.
What a sick commentary...I could've done without reading this...But it does tell you about the dark side and that it is for real...He sought the wrong power and ended up almost losing his mind...I wonder what he has learned? Hopefully others will
