Bruce Springsteen Cancels Show Due to Death in Family

Bruce SpringsteenBruce Springsteen postponed his Monday night show at the Sprint Center in Kansas City due to a death in the rocker's immediate family. Lenny Sullivan, Bruce's cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last 10 years, reportedly died in his room at the city's InterContinental Hotel.

While the cause of death was not immediately released, police say it was not suspicious, according to local news outlet KMBC-TV. In an official statement, the Springsteen camp called Sullivan "A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew and the entire Thrill Hill family."

"Bruce and The Band deeply appreciate the understanding of our Kansas City audience and look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity," Sprint officials said in a news release. Ticket holders will be refunded at the point of purchase.

Meanwhile, Springsteen is scheduled to perform on Thursday at Madison Square Garden in New York as part of the first of two nights celebrating the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary. Concert officials have yet to confirm if he will still perform at the gig, which will also include performances by Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Sting and B.B. King.
