La Roux have already canceled appearances on their US tour due to singer Elly Jackson's illness, but the British electro-pop act was able to play a shortened set in New York's Highline Ballroom on Monday. "I'm having trouble with my lungs, you can probably tell," Jackson told the sympathetic crowd. "If I hold out the microphone, it's because I've run out of breath and you need to help me."The audience was more than happy to oblige the request, but it was hardly necessary as the petite singer two-stepped to such tracks as 'Quicksand,' 'I'm Not Your Toy' and 'Cover My Eyes' off the band's self-titled album. The frontwoman sported a multi-colored striped suit and her trademark red hair was sculpted to a sharp point during the eight-song set. Despite her condition, Jackson bounded across the minimal stage while bandmates William Bowerman, Michael Norris and Mickey O'Brien formed a triangle around her.
The night's only hiccup occurred halfway through the concert, when a laptop gave out mid-song. Jackson's response? Leading a clap-along and cursing technology. "Don't use computers!" she admonished the crowd, before the recuperating act launched into its hit track, 'Bulletproof.'

An eight song set is hardly a concert. That is just a teaser to rip off the audience. Reminds me of the first time I saw The Cars. Their warm up band, The Climax Blues Band, played for nearly three hours. The Cars played their first album note-for-note and were done in twenty-five minutes. I know there's plenty of you out there that know what I'm talking about.
