Rachael Ray Lobbies for Hall and Oates' Rock Hall Induction

TV personality Rachael Ray is on a mission: to get Hall and Oates into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We've known that Ray is a lover of the more rock-flavored variety of the Hold Steady and the New York Dolls, but after learning of their Hall of Fame absence during a recent taping of her daytime show, she not only declared her love for Hall and Oates but decided to start a petition to get them inducted.

"It was completely spontaneous as far as I was concerned," Oates tells Spinner. "No one mentioned anything to Daryl [Hall] or I. We were going out to play a few songs, do a quick interview. Next thing she did, she told her audience we're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Daryl and I looked at each other and we're like, 'Woah.' I don't know if she had planned it, but she didn't tell us and I was blown away."

Ray took to her blog shortly after the taping to kick off her campaign. "Did you know Hall and Oates, one of the biggest pop rock duos in history has not yet been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame???" she wrote, still reeling from the news. "That's why I want you to leave me a comment here and this will act as our petition to get these guys into the Hall of Fame. We'll gather all of your kind words, and send this off to show just how much we support these guys." That's quite an endorsement!

The episode is slated to air on Nov. 6, during which the band plays a few of Ray's requests: 'Rich Girl' and 'You Make My Dreams.' But Oates says that whether or not Ray's petition works its magic, they aren't really concerned with the honor.

"If we were to be nominated for inclusion, we'd be very happy and jump on board, but no one has said anything to us," he says. "So, we just carry on with our lives. It's not something I wake up every morning, worrying about. I've learned over the years to not spend too much time worrying about things I can't control. Getting accolades and awards is a nice perk, but that's not why we do things."

Krissy it is people like you that make this world an ugly place and the reason Rachel has gotten this far. I'm sure that all the negativity out there towards her only motivates her all that much more to succeed. There are plenty more people out there that LOVE her than people who hate her. I am a 31yr old mother of 5. My kids are between the ages of 4 to 14 and they all ADORE her. They have enjoyed all the recipes I have gotten from her and all her different ways of cooking. My 4 yr. old will see her face in magazine covers and book covers and yell out "Thats Rachel Ray" so I bet you feel pretty stupid now huh. That even a 4yr. old can appreciate someone so humble and good hearted. UNLIKE YOU!!!

krissy,

her husband is far from bald. u sound like a teenager who woulnd't find an older man attractive. not only is he a talented musician but his profession is he's an attorney!! u probably can't even pronounce the word!! as far as where she grew up, she grew up not too far away from me in upstate, ny and i know a local teacher who was her mentor!!

personally for me , i don't watch her. she has way too much energy for me!! i mean i am a very bubbly woman but she talks so fast one might contend she's on ctrack if they didn't know any better!! ;)

Not a devotee of hers...Can take her at times or leave her according to my mood...But damn, the girl can cook...And anybody that sets up a company to make natural dog food for non-profit is "okay" by me...Plus, she is setting up a healthy menu in the school cafeterias around here...So despite her fame and wealth plus her bubbly personalitly that can make me "wretch" at times I hope she continues to go on and do good for others.

Ok I like Rachael Raycarried alot of food in her arms and bring on the table to cook. That way she like todo easy way. Ray like to talk to people to help them to eat right. Go rock and roll and help put oats in hall of frame. David

I think that Rachel Ray has her heart in the right place. Her recipies are pretty good, too. As far as the jealousy goes, that is so unattractive Krissy. I'm sure your parents taught you better manners.

You know that are a lot of great artist out there that desire to be in the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame. They only inducted a select few every year. When it is there time they will be inducted. No one person or person's are going to get them there.

Well Gatemouth, it's bad enough to have to see you on television with the crap you cook but now you know music. Well if you'd been to a Hall and Oates concert in the last 8 years you'd understand why they did not get inducted. One has a serious problem, get's a little too high and then can't finish his best songs. The audience gets all excited waiting for Sara Smile and he is so high, that he doesn't hit any of his notes. you know who I mean, I'm sure. When he did this on 4 songs in a row, he said, "Who cares if I fuc- up a few songs?" "We all make mistakes and laughed." Many people left mid concert as did I and I have attended every concert they had in my area until then. I loved them, but I do not honor those who use. I've worked too hard to keep my children and grandchildren away from drugs!
