Dead Weather Release Surprise Live EP

The Dead Weather surprised fans yesterday when it dropped an exclusive, unexpected concert EP, 'Live From Third Man West,' via iTunes. Featuring audio and video recordings culled from the band's free Aug. 26 performance at the Third Man Records pop-up store in Los Angeles, the offering boasts a cover of 'Forever My Queen,' a song originally recorded by doom metal enthusiasts Pentagram.Jack White's temporary Third Man Records and Novelties store in L.A., which was based on the label's original Nashville location, had previously set up shop in New York City. Selling exclusive merchandise, the pop-up store will resurface this Friday and Saturday at London's Shoreditch Church, allowing fans to snatch up copies of all Third Man releases and -- if they're lucky -- catch a surprise appearance by the band.
Sidestepping the White Stripes and the Raconteurs for the time being, White's latest band is doing its part to sustain their momentum. Both White and singer Alison Mosshart recently announced plans to release a sophomore LP in the first half of 2010, less than a year after their debut album, 'Horehound,' hit shelves.
