Morrissey Returns to UK Tour With Humour Intact

Morrissey didn't let the events of the weekend put him off his stride for too long. Just days after his collapse one song into his gig in Swindon, he returned to the live stage with his scheduled show at London's Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday night (Oct. 27).

"Fasten your seatbelts it's going to be a bumpy night," Morrissey quipped as the show began with the Smiths song 'This Charming Man.' It had also been the first song on Saturday's (Oct. 24) show, which was abandoned after he collapsed and was admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.

The 50-year-old singer had had to pull Monday's gig in Bournemouth but, according to reports, was in humorous form. After playing the first song, he pretended to fall to the floor again before leaping back up and shouting, "Good evening, Swindon!"

Morrissey had already had to cancel a string of shows this year because of illness -- the Albert Hall show was originally supposed to have taken place in May but had been postponed because of an earlier illness.

He made a brief comment about collapse on Tuesday night, telling the audience, "The doctor said I shouldn't smile. I told him, 'I don't.'"

After the UK tour, Morrissey heads to Europe before a US tour begins in December.
