The XX may be riding high on success but have recently hit a snag when guitarist Baria Qureshi left the band due to exhaustion on Wednesday. According to the Quietus, the remaining members played the London gig as a three-piece and have had to cancel several upcoming European gigs. "Obviously this has been a really tough few days for us," XX singer and bassist Oliver Sim informed the crowd and later dedicated 'VCR' to the missing guitarist. "It's devastating not having Baria here with us, but you all being here has made us feel better ... thank you very much."
Sim added that the band will be discussing their future this weekend after Qureshi's temporary break and nothing is set in stone. "Baria didn't perform last night after feeling exhausted from the XX's recent touring commitments. As a result, the band ... have postponed some European shows which they are hoping to reschedule," according to a statement. The band is tentatively still scheduled to play in Frankfurt, Germany on Nov. 3.
This news comes just after the band's successful run of shows at the 2009 CMJ Music Marathon in New York. Their self-titled debut album was released Oct. 20 in the US.

Pounding out the same two power-chords night after night DOES get exhausting.

Are you a performer that travels all over the country? If not, how do you know what there daily routine is?
If you don't know what you are talking about, don't criticize. And Maybe he has a private underlying problem that limits his activities.

Correction to my prior post: The guitarist Baria, is a female.

doing a tour can be very tiring, going from one place to the next with little downtime, playing a show, doing interviews, management stuff etc.... It's highly possible to get fatigued. hopefully those european fans will still get to see them play

the managers and other people really shouldn't run these young people ragged. they should take into consideration that they are people, not machines, and they'll still make their money, may be a few thousand dollars less, but certainly more than enough to live on, if they let these bands have an easier schedule.

you turds, the guy isn't complaining, he just got wore out on the road.. somebody's complaining for him.. playing shows and being on the road IS tiring. drugs or not. you don't sleep in beds, you don't get to shower, you don't get to eat, you don't get any time alone, you don't get to go poop when you want, you crave nothing but water and some quiet. oh and to top it off you still gotta smile and act like everybody is your friend at the next show. it's rough, certainly not for everybody. turns out this dude just realized it wasn't for him. sometimes ya sink, sometimes ya swim, get over yourselves!

"Exhustion"...this is music code for 'he's a drug addict and can't score on the road.'
I hope he gets the help he needs.
