Only ghouls and goblins know the true identities of the members of Here Come the Mummies. The group performs under wraps, literally, and is rumored to comprise several members who have Grammy awards to their credit. Not to be confused with punk band the Mummies, this funk/R&B group formed in 2000 and is based in Nashville, Tenn.
The mummified groove carries through their tunes as well as their individual personas -- Mummy Cass(anova) on guitar/vocals, Eddie Mummy on drums/vocals, K.W. Tut on bass/vocals, Java on percussion/vocals, Oozie Mummy on trumpet/vocals and Spaz Mummy on keyboards.
A rotating cast of characters -- or as Here Come the Mummies call them, an "Auxillary Undead Army" -- supports the main Mummies. Mummy Rah, Maximum, Devo Mummy and the Flu on sax, Ramses and Pole on bass, Teste Verde on trumpet and Slide, BoneAir and Boy Algae on trombone.
Every member has a spooky bio, and reading them carefully might offer clues to the Mummies' true identities, but since it's Halloween, we're happy to just enjoy their haunted tall tales.
