Green Day Announce UK Stadium Dates for 2010
Green Day have announced that they will be playing two UK stadiums next summer. The punk band will take the stage at Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground on June 16 and Wembley Stadium on June 19. This marks the first time the band has played in the UK since their two-night stint at Milton Keynes National Bowl in 2005 that was used for their live album, 'Bullet in a Bible.'"Playing Wembley Stadium is one of those moments in your career when you just go holy s---!" Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told NME.com. "It's going to be great because Wembley has a long tradition of rock concerts with the likes of U2, Foo Fighters and Muse playing here in the past, and we're just happy to be part of that."
Aside from announcing the UK shows and a date at the Parc Des Princes in Paris on June 26, Armstrong also mentioned that he would like to bring Green Day's 'American Idiot' musical, which has already appeared at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California, to the UK in the future.
"We'd love to bring it to London, it'd be great. We'd have it right next to door to 'Thriller,'" Armstrong said, referring to the Michael Jackson-themed musical that's currently playing in London's West End.
