Just in time for the holidays, Weezer have announced the release of their very own Snuggie. Unfortunately, it's not called the Sneezer, but does come with the Weezer logo branded on the sleeved-blanket contraption. But wait -- that's not all. The Weezer Snuggie comes with the band's latest album, 'Raditude,' and is available in red, blue and green for the low, low price of $29.99. We're assuming that these choices are blatant homage's to the band's eponymous albums of the same color. If Weezer fans aren't satiated by that offering, the band is also offering the 'Snuggie Safari' package, which includes an exclusive Zebra print Weezer snug, the deluxe version of 'Raditude' and a 50-page book of exclusive photos.
The Snuggie approach is another innovative marketing move by Weezer and one of the first that we can think of that blends rock songs about partying and hot girls with the comfortable fleece of a blanket/shirt. In the past, they've tapped Internet stars for videos and even asked our readers to create album art for 'Raditude.'
This of course leaves the field wide open for someone to hone in on the Snuggie's main competitor, the Slanket, "the original blanket with sleeves." If any other irony-loving band would like to step up, we'd be all for it. Ween, we're looking in your direction.
