With three bands, a prolific record label and the occasional lecturing gig, Jack White certainly doesn't need to take on any more projects. That could explain why he turned down an opportunity that any musician not named Axl Rose would kill for -- performing on Slash's new solo record, 'Slash & Friends.'In an interview with Musicradar.com, the legendary axeman said, "I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn't want to sing. He said 'I'll play drums, I'll play guitar, but I don't wanna sing.'" White is currently drumming -- and rarely singing --for the Dead Weather, who are working on their second album.
"He was one guy that I wanted to work with," Slash added. "Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get." White would have been among many superstar artists to appear on the record, including Dave Grohl, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Grohl, Flea and three of former Guns N' Roses bandmates, Izzy Stradlin, Steven Adler and Duff McKagan.
On Tuesday, Slash took to his Twitter account to announce, "Recording the final track for my record tomorrow, finally. Record will be completely done this month." The album is expected sometime in early 2010.
