In advance of his upcoming live CD and DVD, 'Good Evening New York City,' Paul McCartney is offering fans a pair of freebies. Those who visit Macca's website can sign up to receive a live MP3 of the track 'Let Me Roll It' via e-mail and view a performance video of the song 'Highway,' which was originally released under his side-project the Fireman last year. The project was recorded live during McCartney's historic opening performances at Queens, N.Y.'s Citi Field, which replaced Shea Stadium. "It was three great nights for the band and for me personally it was very exciting to be back opening a new stadium on the site of the old Shea Stadium where we had played 44 years previously," McCartney said, referring to the Beatles' famed 1965 concert. "Even more exciting because this time round you could hear us!"
McCartney's historic New York gigs were witnessed by 120,000-plus attendees this year. A deluxe version of the project will include a bonus DVD of Sir Paul's traffic-stopping, headline-making July 15 performance on the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee for the 'Late Show with David Letterman.' It promises bonus numbers not aired on the Letterman broadcast.
