Band of Skulls Unfazed by Meeting 'Twilight' Stars

Band of SkullsOn Friday evening, British three-piece Band of Skulls will join members of the cast of 'New Moon' at Los Angeles' Hollywood & Highland Center for a promotional appearance related to the second big screen installment of the 'Twilight' series. The band, whose song 'Friends' appears on the 'New Moon' soundtrack, will play a short set, but don't expect co-singer and guitarist Russell Marsden to make a move to meet his fellow any of the film's stars.

"If it was a Hollywood legend, I'd maybe make an extra effort," the not-very-star struck Marsden tells Spinner. "I don't know, it's just like, it's good that they're going to be there. We'll just do our gig. I'm quite interested to see that band Sea Wolf. They're playing as well, so we might stick around and watch those guys."

While Marsden is neither Team Edward nor Team Jacob, he did confirm that his outfit has seen the first 'Twilight' film, something he previously told Spinner they hadn't yet done. "We watched the first one the other day just because, it's just sort of to know what to expect and our work is going to be in the next one, so [we're] definitely sort of interested to see what they do with it," he says. "It was kind of long, but I get why it affects teenage girls so much."

Make that teenage and older -- Marsden's 22-year-old sister had an off the chart reaction when she first heard a song by her brother's band was joining the 'Twilight' franchise. "I mentioned it to my little sister and she went berserk, freaking out and I realized it was significant," he says, noting the band themselves found out about their inclusion on the album after reading it in the Los Angeles Times.

While the band just got to L.A. for the 'Twilight' event, the locale where Band of Skulls partially recorded their debut album, 2009's 'Baby Darling Doll Face Honey,' they are about to hit the road for a new North American tour with Metric. With "New Moon" ready to hit theaters Nov. 20 and the buzz of being on the soundtrack already in full bloom, Marsden says he has a feeling there may be a few new faces at the gigs.

"I think it will bring a new audience," he sahys. "[There's] definitely a sort of level of interest, but hopefully if they like our music, they'll stick around."
