Potent Quotables: Miley's Questionable Claim

"I've never heard a Jay-Z song. I don't listen to pop music, and it's not even my style of music." --Miley CyrusWe're not going to call her a liar, but really Miley? Never heard the 'Izzo' song? And we quote from your new single 'Party in the U.S.A.,' "and the Jay-Z song was on/and the Jay-Z song was on."

I don't have anything against Miley Cyrus but it was kind of stupid for her to say that. The fact that she claims never to have heard a Jay-Z song when she sings about it in one of her own songs makes her look kind of dumb. Honesty isn't always the best policy.

I guess people don't like listening to rap because it,
well,it was a mostly African American originated musical style.
Miley's heard of Jay-Z and is saying otherwise for publicity, Hell how many award ceremonies has she gone too where he's performed I.E. VMA's, Grammy's, etc. The fact we're even discussing this proves that.
Oh and for all you rap haters out there who don't enjoy rap because its an African American/ Ethnic? Urban art form, Lets all remember that rap isn't the only musical form created by African American artists A.K.A Rock and Roll.
but the thing is ;
she references jay-z in her new song so its hard to believe that she's never heard of him
As a HUGE Jay-Z fan, I'm trying to see it in the perspective of someone who isn't familiar with his music. Sure, it's possible to have never heard of him (even though I don't think I could avoid him if I wanted; to me he's everywhere right now, especially with his new song "Empire State of Mind"--I hear it like a gagillion times a day and I'm sick of it!). But if I'd never heard an artist's music and it wasn't my thing, I'd probably ask the person who wrote the song for me to make it something I was more familiar with. It wouldn't even be something I'd be comfortable with. Then again, I listen to all types of music and am a little more accepting of different genres than the average person. IDK why it's such a big deal. It's just a song and I happen to like it, even though I wouldn't consider myself a Miley Cyrus fan.

I Really can't see what the big deal about her is anyway. Can't act worth s**t and her singing is just like any of these other teen manufactured pop stars. I wish these kids,and their dumb- ass parents would get a clue and stop buying her Hanna Montana crap so we can be rid of her already.

November 17 2009 at 5:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThere not saying she is lying because every person in the entire world is a Jay-Z fan. They are saying she is a liar because her song Party in the USA talks about how Jay-Z's music made her feel more comfortable. So she is lying about what music she listens to regardless if she's heard one or not because she has completely contradicted herself with this statement. She lied, she's a liar and apparently not even a very good one.
