My Morning Jacket to Appear on Fox's 'American Dad'

My Morning Jacket on 'American Dad'
For My Morning Jacket, playing through the pouring rain paid off -- it landed the indie folk-rock act a slot on FOX's 'American Dad.' And we're not talking a three-second "Hello, I'm Mick Jagger" cameo either. MMJ's guest appearance on the series is a full-on episode takeover with the band guest-voicing themselves.

The series' co-creator, Mike Barker, dreamed up the idea of the 'My Morning Straightjacket' episode -- during which the show's principle character Stan Smith becomes a groupie -- while "watching MMJ play their guts out in the rain at 4AM" at Bonnaroo 2008. Barker was first turned on to the band after a writer for the show played the track 'Bermuda Highway' for him and has gone on to coin MMJ "'American Dad's official band."

But Barker isn't the only super-fan trembling at the mercy of Jim James' howl on 'Gideon.' Comedian Zach Galifianakis ('The Hangover,' HBO's 'Bored to Death') lends his voiceover skills for the episode, guest-starring as the ultimate MMJ fan.

If this thing couldn't become more of a real-life super-fan's wet dream, the six MMJ songs that are featured in the show are being jazzed up with outtakes from the episode for a digital EP that ATO will unleash on iTunes.
