Magnetic Fields Announce New Album Details

Magnetic Fields' Stephin MerrittGood news, chamber pop fans. The Magnetic Fields will release the follow up to 2008's 'Distortion' early next year. Titled 'Realism,' the newest collection of songscapes from pop savant Stephin Merritt comes, like its predecessor, with its very own restroom-door-inspired album art.

If that's not enough, the man who brought us Future Bible Heroes, the Gothic Archies and the 6ths is serving up some of his most intriguing song titles yet. While we haven't yet heard 'You Must Be Out of Your Mind,' 'Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree,' 'Seduced and Abandoned' or 'The Dada Polka,' the Magnetic Fields seem poised to deliver the goods yet again.

While we're at it, has it really been 10 years since Merritt delivered the baroque pop favorite, '69 Love Songs'? That triple album -- deemed an instant classic by nearly everyone who heard it and is often cited for changing the face of indie rock -- even became the subject of L.D. Beghtol's 2006 book 'Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs: A Field Guide.'

'Realism' is expected to be released on Jan. 26. Check out the full track list below.
