Red Hot Chili Peppers Set to Rock for Neil Young

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will make their first post-hiatus appearance early next year when the funky monks join a lineup of all-star acts that will pay tribute to Neil Young. The concert for Young, which honors the rock legend as the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year, will take place in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.

Aside from the Chili Peppers, who are currently at work on their 10th studio album and first since 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium,' the MusiCares event will boast heavy hitters like Wilco, Dave Matthews, Jackson Browne and Young's occasional bandmates, Crosby, Stills and Nash.

RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis is no stranger to MusiCares. The organization, which ensures that music people have a place to turn to in times of financial, medical and personal need, honored the singer and recovering addict back in May for his commitment to the MAP Fund, which helps drug addicts with the recovery process.

MusiCares cites Young for his "his exceptional and influential artistic accomplishments as well as his philanthropic work, which has included many generous charitable activities over the years." Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, k.d. Lang, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Ozomatli and Everest have also been confirmed for the gala.
