Aerosmith Still Facing Trouble From Steven Tyler

Although Steven Tyler insisted that he wasn't leaving Aerosmith when he made an impromptu appearance Tuesday night at guitarist Joe Perry's NYC solo gig, the band's turmoil continues. It seems Tyler wants the group to sit dormant while he takes a lengthy break, and the rest of the band isn't thrilled with that suggestion.

"He wants to take two years off from the band," Perry told Rolling Stone. "The rest of the band wants to keep on working. We have so many different options to fill up that time. Anything is possible at this point."

Perry says he was stunned when Tyler showed up at his New York show, asking to join him onstage. "There was all this commotion during our encore break," Perry recounted, "and somebody said, 'Steven is here.' I was like, 'What?'"

Tyler then made it public: ""I just want New York to know that I'm not leaving Aerosmith," he told the crowd. "The break-up -- it just ain't true. Joe Perry, you are a man of many colors. But I, motherf---er, am the rainbow!"

But Tyler split after the show rather than hang with his bandmate of 40 years, forgoing any discussion of Aerosmith's future or the reports he wants to go solo.

"Basically, any communication that we've had over the last couple of months has been through managers, so that's been pretty strange," Perry said. "I never won any money trying to second-guess what goes on in Steven's mind. I guess this is just Aerosmith business as usual."
