Arctic Monkeys Get Nick Cave's Seal of Approval

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner has revealed to Spinner that Nick Cave has given the band's cover of his delectably louche 'Red Right Hand' the seal of approval.

The subject arose when Spinner asked Turner who his band would like to work with on their next album, should current producer -- and Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures frontman -- Josh Homme have a full schedule. He responded by asking our advice.

Speaking to Spinner from Amsterdam, the singer said, "I've not really thought about it. I do love working with James [Ford, co-producer of Humbug] a lot. He's someone I really like to make records with, but I don't know. Have you got any good ideas?"

Spinner suggested Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds and Grinderman cohort Warren Ellis, given the Arctic Monkeys' recent Cave cover. "Hmm, yeah," Turner pondered. "'Yeah that could work, or that maybe that guy Nick Launay who produced some of his (Cave's) records."

He then revealed how he heard of Cave's blessing in a chance meeting with Ellis. "I met Warren actually, in a guitar shop in Portland," Turner said. "And he assured me that the 'Red Right Hand' cover had the approval from 'upstairs.' I do love Nick Cave. He's one of my favourite lyricists, certainly."

Could Spinner have planted the seed of a mouthwatering collaboration? We certainly hope so.
