Bad Lieutenant Cancel US Shows Due to Visa Difficulties

Bad Lieutenant's Bernard SumnerBad Lieutenant are the latest victims of US foreign policy. They made the difficult announcement today that they have to cancel their four US shows, two of which were with the Pixies, in Chicago and New York. The reason? They couldn't secure their visas on time. New rules and regulations, along with more stringent parameters, have made the process more difficult than ever before.

"We were all so very excited about coming to the States to play our new music for our American fans, and are extremely disappointed that, on this occasion, we won't have the opportunity to do so," said Bad Lieutenant No. 1, Bernard Sumner, in a press statement today.

The band is now planning to make up those dates in New York and Chicago -- minus the Pixies -- in the spring, adding additional US cities to the itinerary. That is, if they can get their visas by then.

Keep in mind that, despite the misconduct that their name implies, Bad Lieutenant weren't actually denied visas, they just didn't get them processed in time. The same, of course, can't be said for a number of other performers who were denied entry to America recently. Yes, we're thinking of you, Amy Winehouse.
