Touring partners and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Elton John and Billy Joel appear to have dueling medical dilemmas that have forced the cancellation of additional shows. John's recent and severe bout of E.coli and influenza kept the flamboyant 62-year-old from fulfilling his commitment at Oakland's Oracle Arena on Saturday. And now, another Bay Area date on their "Face 2 Face" tour, set for Tuesday night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, has been postponed because of Joel's "undisclosed medical reasons."As organizers scramble to schedule make-up dates for these two shows, all fans are being asked to hold onto their tickets until information can be released regarding rescheduled gigs. After shows last week in Seattle and Portland were postponed, Elton's handlers mistakenly thought the Rocket Man would be well enough for the Oakland show. Now he's ready to rock and Joel is sidelined.
In the meantime, John is slated to attend a fundraising event Monday in New York for his Elton John Aids Foundation which will honor Sharon Stone and Bill Clinton. Last year the annual event, known as the Enduring Vision Gala, raised $2 million for the organization.
