He won't be seeing patients, but that hasn't kept former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker from becoming a doctor. Cocker was awarded an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University, the higher learning facility in his hometown where he once studied when it was known as Sheffield Polytechnic."I'm called a doctor now. Don't worry, I won't open a surgery," Cocker said as he accepted the honor, according to the BBC. "But I guess if you are a songwriter maybe I could have some kind of musical surgery."
"If you had a song with a swollen chorus, or a varicose verse, or if you need a little bit of help I could try and heal your song for you," Cocker said to the attending crowd.
Cocker joins the likes of Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper, Bob Geldof and Patti Smith who have been awarded honorary doctorates from various universities for their contributions to popular culture.
