Missing Persons Singer Jailed for Animal Cruelty

Dale BozzioMissing Persons singer Dale Bozzio has been jailed in New Hampshire for animal cruelty. The former New Wave star -- who lent her quirky singing style to hits like 1982's 'Words' and 'Destination Unknown' -- was placed in an Ossipee jail last Friday after dropping her appeal of an animal cruelty conviction and surrendering to Carroll County officials.

According to the Phoenix, the charges stem from Bozzio's unsuccessful attempts to "save" feral and sick cats from the New Hampshire woods. However, while the singer toured during the fall of 2008, two cats were found dead and 12 were put down following an undeterminable period of neglect.

Bozzio was found guilty of one count of cruelty to animals in March 2009, and she was sentenced in May to 90 days in jail with 60 days deferred for two years. She was also ordered to serve 250 hours of community service and pay a $2700 euthanization bill.

With good behavior, Bozzio may serve as few as 20 days of the sentence. However, the singer's cat-related struggles may not be over. She is also in hot water for skipping out on rent payments to her former Reseda, Calif. landlord and leaving at least $3,600 in cat-related damage.

Missing Persons was great. Those really were the days. All the fantastic new music that came out at that time. I wish we could go back. Wouldn't give two spits for what is popular today. Peace.

Don't pick on PETA Atleast they care about animals. What do you expect from New Hampshire people living in the woods.

Hey, "me" -- what makes you think PETA "care about animals"? Is it the way their employees gave adoptable animals from NC the needle when they had promised to try to find them homes? Is it the 90% to 97% kill rate at their own headquarters "shelter" over the past several years? What about the huge walk-in freezer where they store the bodies of these animals until they can be hauled off to be incinerated or dumped in a landfill?

Ingrid Newkirk has said that she thinks animals should be enjoyed "from a distance" and not be "enslaved" as our pets. Is that the way a true animal lover talks about our pets?

And to the person who said that feral cats are responsible for killing songbirds, well maybe, but habitat loss in their wintering grounds in Central and South America are far more responsible for population decreases.

I have an upstate animal rescue sancutary where we take in neglected ,abused or surrendered animals. People do not equate crulty to any of these. We live in a disposable society where mothers kill their children for freedom. Why not get rid of an animal? To many an animal is an object not a living breathing creature who has feelings not much different from ours.People get caught up in the moment and then come back to the real world. The world of self indulgence and ego. No room for dependents-especially an animal who can't speak for itself.The studies have proven that animal crulty can lead to violence. Let her relationships beware.

When you feed a stray you are then responsable for it. So, there is no half assed solution.And if I had The money she has, I would have a "retirment home" for unwanted animals.This shows something about her character.sHE STARTED SOMETHING she probably never had any intentions of following through with.
